10km Course Map – 7.45am START
The event will run from 7.30am to 11am.
Ready for a challenge. Test yourself on the 10k course. The mixed road and trail course is scenic, taking in extended stretches of the Yarra River, Warrandyte State Park and beautiful sections of the bushy Warrandyte burbs. As with all of our courses it begins at the Warrandyte Clubhouse on Taroona Avenue, with the starting line behind the Kindergarten and from there turns onto Taroona Ave. There are some minor hills, a short rough section, a beautiful riverside trail and a character filled rural suburban section to the course. You will complete two laps of this picturesque course before returning to the Clubhouse car park finish line.
At the start, once on the road you will head down Taroona Ave towards the river and turn left onto Everard Drive. The course continues all the way along Everard Drive to the Mid-way Drinks Station at Everard and Pound, then turning right onto the Pound Bend Tank Track. The Tank Track is a short but challenging climb and decent, slightly rough under foot (extra care is required on this section) and it takes you through to the PV Depot at the end of Pound Bend Rd. From here you will meander through interesting parkland where you will find the new Turnaround Drink Station.
Our new course leads onto beautiful Riverside Track and greatest care must be taken in this section. It is certainly a privilege for us to run this pathway so treat the bushland and native habitat with great respect. Single file running is requested to allow faster runners to pass. Please stay on the tracks at all times.
The track emerges through the Pound Bend Picnic Ground where you will be guided through a series of gates, then up a steady climb on the Picnic Ground Road, back to the Mid-way Drinks Station. Grab a drink here because there is a short steep pinch along Pound Bend Road to Third St. You run the full length of this character filled Warrandyte street and then turn left onto West End Rd and left back into Taroona Avenue.
As you re-enter Taroona Avenue, stay left for your first lap and continue the course. You will lap this course 2 times in total, then take the finish at the Kindergarten carpark after your second lap.
This 10km course is upper intermediate and a perfect distance for general sports training – football, netball, basketball, hockey, soccer, etc. If you’re back into training then this is the one for you.
